Schools and Young People
Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight celebrates the country's
produce - regardless of age, location or profession, people are
encouraged to enjoy the fantastic food and drink Scotland has to
offer.
The Fortnight is celebrated in many ways from the Shetlands to
the Scottish Borders, including events, festivals, in-store
tastings, special menus and individuals enjoying Scottish goods
with friends and family. You can show your support for the Eat
Scottish pledge and join the conversation at facebook.com/eatscottish, by following @ScotFoodFort on Twitter and using the
#eatScottish hashtag.
There are countless ways to celebrate the Fortnight. Here are
some of our suggestions:
- Challenge yourself to eat Scottish for a day, or for every day
of the Fortnight
- Organise a picnic with friends using only Scottish produce
- Dig out old Scottish family recipes - write and tell us about
them
- Try a local speciality like a Forfar bridie, Cullen Skink or an
Aberdeen buttery: during the Fortnight, follow our daily stories on
traditional and modern Scottish foods for inspiration
- Visit your local farmers' market to meet and support the people
producing food near you
- Find out what events are happening in your area by looking at
the events section of this website
- Invite a local chef to your school to give a cookery
demonstration, or ask them to host one in their restaurant
- Ask your school to organise a special event to celebrate
Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight
- Organise a day trip to a local farm to see what is grown and
produced locally
- Get involved with the Eco Schools Scotland One Planet
Picnic 2013, celebrating the best in Scottish produce and
sustainable eating alongside caring for our planet. Visit our
supporters page for more information and links to the One Planet
Picnic website
However you get involved this Fortnight, we'd love to hear about
it! Message us on Facebook,
